ChattTonight is an events guide for the Chattanooga metro — built for people who actually live here. area. We operate the website at chatttonight.com, related mobile applications, and the The Chatt List email newsletter. We designed the service to work without requiring you to create an account.
Information we collect
Information you provide
- Newsletter signup. If you subscribe to The Chatt List, you provide your email address (and any other fields shown on the signup form). Subscription is processed through Beehiiv, our email service provider. Beehiiv's privacy policy governs how they process subscriber data on their platform.
- Event submissions. If you use our venue intake form, we collect the fields you enter (venue name, event details, contact email, and optional notes). Submissions are stored in our database so curators can review and publish eligible events.
- Support messages. If you email us at chatttonightapp@gmail.com, we receive your email address, message content, and any information you choose to include.
Information collected automatically
- Server and hosting logs. Our hosting provider (Vercel) and database provider (Supabase) may automatically log technical information such as IP address, browser type, request timestamps, and pages requested when you use the site or API. We use this data to operate, secure, and troubleshoot the service.
- Share attribution. When you share an event or open a shared link, we may record anonymous counts (event type, share vs. landing, and UTM parameters) to understand whether sharing helps people discover events. We do not attach those counts to your name or require an account.
- Device and app information. If you use our mobile apps, we may receive basic device information (such as operating system version and app version) needed to deliver content and fix crashes. We do not currently use third-party analytics or advertising SDKs in the app.
Information we do not collect
We do not require user accounts to browse events. We do not knowingly collect payment card information (ticket purchases happen on venue or third-party ticketing sites). We do not sell your personal information.
How we use information
We use the information described above to:
- Display events, venues, and recurring nights in the guide
- Send The Chatt List emails to subscribers who opt in
- Review venue and promoter event submissions
- Respond to support requests and feedback
- Maintain security, prevent abuse, and improve reliability
- Comply with legal obligations
Event and venue data
Show listings, venue details, and recurring night schedules are compiled from publicly available sources (venue websites, official APIs, and manual curation). This information describes public events and businesses, not personal data about you.
How we share information
We share information only in these limited circumstances:
- Service providers. With vendors that help us operate the service, including Vercel (hosting), Supabase (database), and Beehiiv (email). They process data on our behalf under their own privacy terms.
- Legal requirements. When required by law, court order, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of ChattTonight, our users, or the public.
- Business transfers. If the service is acquired or merged, information may transfer as part of that transaction with notice where required by law.
We do not sell or rent personal information to third parties.
Third-party links
ChattTonightlinks to external ticketing sites, venue websites, maps, and social profiles. When you leave our service, those sites' privacy policies apply. We are not responsible for their practices.
Data retention
- Newsletter subscriber data is retained by Beehiiv according to your subscription status and their retention policies. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any The Chatt List email.
- Support emails are kept as long as needed to resolve your request and for reasonable record-keeping.
- Server logs are retained for a limited period consistent with hosting provider defaults and security needs.
Your choices and rights
- Newsletter. Unsubscribe via the link in any email or contact us to be removed.
- Access and deletion. Email chatttonightapp@gmail.com to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information we hold about you. We will respond within a reasonable timeframe.
- California residents. You may have additional rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including the right to know what personal information we collect and to request deletion. We do not sell personal information as defined by California law.
Children's privacy
ChattTonight is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
We use industry-standard measures through our infrastructure providers to protect data in transit and at rest. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.
International users
The service is operated from the United States. If you access it from outside the U.S., your information may be processed in the U.S. or where our service providers operate.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Material changes may also be noted in the newsletter or on the homepage.
